A global leader in the chemical industry is currently recruiting for an R&D Section Head to lead its UV Curable development team, on a permanent basis. As R&D Section Head, you will be responsible for leading a small team of Chemists & technicians in developing new inkjet inks applied to the industrial and packaging industries.
This opportunity will suit a motivated candidate that holds proven industrial experience developing novel formulations for inkjet/digital ink/UV-Curable ink applications - coupled with a strong academic profile. The company will also consider applicants at Senior Chemist level, with the view to progress to a Section Head within a short time frame.
R&D Section Head Responsibilities
- Lead a small team of Chemists & Technicians in developing inkjet inks for industrial and packaging applications.
- Provide leadership and clear technical guidance, with the ability to motivate and encourage innovation.
- Communicate to cross-functional teams within the company and liaise with external parties including customers/suppliers/partners.
- Provide hands-on technical expertise to the team - designing and conducting R&D experiments to achieve results through a systematic approach.
- Support other areas of the business when required - project management/scale-up.
- Process, analyse and present technical data to Senior Management.
R&D Section Head Requirements
- You must possess a degree level qualification in Chemistry or closely related field of study.
- Proven experience in developing and formulating novel formulations for inkjet applications - this can also include digital inks/UV curable inks/packaging inks.
- An understanding of the legislative/regulatory requirements surrounding inks would be a distinct advantage.
- Demonstrate strong leadership with the ability to provide clear technical guidance and striving for innovation.
- Excellent communication skills with a track record of successfully working with cross-function teams and external parties (suppliers, customers etc.).
- Confident designing and conducting experiments and be able to achieve results through a systematic, problem-solving approach.
- The ability to process, analyse and present technical data is essential together with communicating technical information to individuals within other teams and departments.
- An innovative approach to product development, with the ability to work independently and the drive to push projects forward and meet project targets is essential.
