The Government of Qatar reported its first two new cases of influenza, two foreign children



The government of Qatar announced today the first two cases of influenza A (H1N1) detected in this country, two foreign children who had recently visited United States and Austria, respectively.

The two children who showed symptoms of influenza A new arrival in Qatar, are receiving treatment and are recovering, said Minister of Health Abdullah Al Qahtani, in a statement obtained by the Qatar News Agency.

The first case corrresponde a child two years of New Zealand who arrived last Saturday with his family from Austria, and the U.S. also is a child of two years who came from New York on Sunday with a stopover in Bangladesh, the minister added.

Four other Persian Gulf countries-Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Kuwait and Bahrain, have detected cases of influenza A (H1N1) in their respective territories.
