Spain will be able to immunize 18 million persons against influenza A in the autumn
The Spanish government has ordered enough doses of future influenza vaccine to immunize A 18 million people this fall, said yesterday in Mexico's Minister of Health and Social Policy, Trinidad Jimenez. Spain signed a preliminary agreement with two pharmaceutical companies that delivered doses "in the beginning to be used in other European countries," said the Minister.
Meanwhile, the British government admitted yesterday that it has assumed that it can not contain the spread of new influenza virus, which has already caused three deaths in the country. It has therefore decided to move to the treatment stage to forecast that at the end of August, the number affected could reach 100,000 a day.
According to the Parliament the head of Health, Andy Burnham, the new strategy against the disease will mean that doctors will no longer be responsible for testing for the presence of H1N1 in patients and appeal to those with symptoms to stay at homes. In the last week, there was a 'considerable increase' in cases. Already around 7500 confirmed in the whole country, which has recorded two deaths in Scotland and one in England.
