Short summary
The main purpose of the Laboratory Research Scientist (Fixed Term maternity cover) role in the Peptide Chemistry STP is to support this very busy STP in performing peptide synthesis (both using automated equipment and manually) and purification to generate peptides for experiments performed by scientists at the Crick. You will work as part of a team, working with other team members to get the work done as effectively as possible. A BSc in Chemistry or equivalent and experience in handling of hazardous chemicals is essential.
Project scope
The Peptide Chemistry STP comprises of chemists performing synthesis using both solid phase and solution phase chemistry. We produce molecules which are analysed and purified by a variety of methods including mass spectrometry, NMR, reverse phase and normal phase chromatography. We supply molecules, expertise and training to help our colleagues answer their research questions. The STP is led by Nicola O’Reilly.
