Patent Scientist / Patent Engineer / IP Coordinator (m/f/d) (in full time)
You will be a member of the patent department and report to the in-house patent counsel. With great personal responsibility, you will represent the link between the company's scientists, in particular, inventors, research and development (R&D) project leaders and the patent department.
Your tasks:
- Link between intellectual property (IP) department and scientists/R&D project teams
- Supporting and advising R&D project teams in matters of intellectual property (IP)
- Strategic coordination of internal activities to create an optimized IP portfolio in collaboration with the in-house patent counsel
- Presentation of IP-related information in company/project team meetings
- Conduct in-house training with IP relevance
- Determination of the scientific landscape and competitor monitoring
- Receiving, checking and processing invention disclosures
- Assistance in patent search, freedom-to-operate and due diligence analyses
- Assistance in the compilation and evaluation of experimental data and in the preparation of patent applications
Your profile:
- University degree in Chemistry, Biology, Biochemistry, Pharmacology or Pharmacy (master's degree and/or PhD)
- Completed additional qualification such as Patent Scientist (equivalent to German „Patentreferent“) or Patent Engineer, preferably in the form of a postgraduate course
- Ideally minimum 2 years of industrial experience in intellectual property law; beginners with interest in dealing with legal issues are welcome, too
- Experience in conducting searches in scientific databases
- Experience in using patent management software systems (preferably Genese®)
- Analytical thinking and the ability to structure and present complex scientific facts in a comprehensible way
- Very good organizational skills, capable of setting priorities and managing high workload
- High willingness to perform and learn, proactive behavior, very good verbal and written communication skills
- Enjoys working in an interdisciplinary team, good team player
- Business-fluent in English; German skills would be beneficial
