Analytical Chemist
Position Information:
Position Purpose
This position reports to the Laboratory Director and conducts routine analyses of customer samples in a fast-paced, state-regulated analytical chemistry lab. Duties and Responsibilities

Conduct laboratory analysis of medical marijuana samples in compliance with rules of the Ohio Administrative Code (Medical Marijuana Control Program) and ISO 17025
• Design laboratory workflow processes and efficient testing schedules to ensure timely delivery of test results
• Always remain accessible to laboratory testing personnel when testing is performed to provide on-site, telephone or e-mail consultation to resolve problems in accordance with policies and procedures established by the Laboratory Director
• Monitor the consumables and reagent inventory to ensure the laboratory is adequately stocked to meet testing volumes
• Assist with staying within budget parameters as well as reaching projected program goals
• Monitor and respond to monthly volumes, utilization, financial, operational and quality metrics
• Address operational issues with a high sense of urgency
• Must be willing to participate in academic programs such as administration of laboratory courses and providing teaching assistance as directed by the Laboratory Director.

Qualifications - Education, Experience, and Skills

Minimum B.S. in chemistry, biology, biochemistry, microbiology or related field
• Minimum 5 years of experience conducting analyses in a contract laboratory setting
• Operation, data acquisition and quantitative data processing using HPLC, headspace-GC-FID, LC-MS/MS and ICP-MS, including the QA/QC rules required to demonstrate validity of a data set
• Excellent bench level skills in sample preparation, extraction, purification, dilution and standard preparation
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to effectively function in a team oriented, fast paced, dynamic technical environment

Demonstrated experience in analytical method development, troubleshooting and validation utilizing and maintaining modern analytical instrumentation
• Must be able to work independently as well as under direction while contributing knowledge and experience to projects

Must be self-motivated, possess harmonious interpersonal skills, and the ability to handle a wide variety of work assignments while meeting tight timelines
• Exhibit high quality writing, communication and time management skills as well as proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
• Experience writing and reviewing laboratory SOPs under ISO 17025 or similar quality management systems (e.g. FDA GLP or EPA GLP)
• Must be able to work nights and weekends as needed
• Experience in analysis of medical marijuana biomass and products preferred
• LIMS system experience preferred
