Analytical Support Chemist required, based in North Cheshire. Experience in method validation, development and calibration of Gas Chromatography instrumentation needed. Previous experience working in a GMP environment preferred. Troubleshooting experience and knowledge of software associated with GC and LIMS highly beneficial.

Salary: £28,240 per annum
Employment Term: Initial 12 month contract, with view to permanent
SRG is working with a leading chemicals manufacturer who supply raw materials for a range of medical-grade products in a GMP environment. Based in North Cheshire, they are currently looking for an Analytical Support Chemist to provide technical support with Gas Chromatography instrumentation and software systems. The role will involve calibrating, maintaining and validating Gas Chromatography instrumentation for the central QC team, as well as project work including new equipment installation and data validation. This would be an excellent opportunity for a chemist with strong experience of GC analysis, calibration and troubleshooting, in addition to method validation and associated software.

You will join a small, collaborative team in a company with a great ethos. 37.5 working hours per week, 8am-4pm Monday to Friday. 25 days holiday as standard plus 8 statutory days.
Role / Description
  • Providing routine technical support and expertise on gas chromatography instrumentation, including calibration, maintenance and troubleshooting for equipment and software
  • Ensuring that GC equipment is available and working to the highest standards at all times
  • Supporting projects to implement and validate new methods, develop new methods, undertake improvements, and implement barcoding in the existing LIMS
  • Recording and reporting on method validations, developments and improvements to GMP standards
  • Helping to define, source and install new equipment, with follow up validation
  • Migrating instrumentation over to new software, validating and troubleshooting as needed
  • Providing training for analysts on new GC equipment, software or methods
  • Completing and applying necessary risk assessment and risk mitigation for analysis in high hazard chemistry
Requirements
  • Significant experience in Gas Chromatography analysis, calibration and method validation
    • Method development, and troubleshooting also highly advantageous
  • In-depth practical knowledge of gas chromatography instrumentation and associated software
  • Experience and understand of GMP or similarly highly-regulated environment/standards
  • Minimum HNC in Chemistry, Analytical Science, Forensic Science or similar
  • Appreciation of H&S, Root Cause Analysis and continuous improvement preferable
