We are currently looking for a Process Hazards Assessor to join Process Hazards Section in Münchwilen AG, Switzerland. As a member of the team you will play a key role in the development of safe new manufacturing processes, with a focus on flammability risks and controls.

Your tasks

Role Purpose:
 
  • Provide knowledge and direction in flammability hazards for new product development, and support established global projects and manufactures to meet Syngenta’s needs
  • Contribute to the development of novel technologies and approaches relating to process hazards
  • Provide training and coaching in process hazards within the local region
Accountabilities:
 
  • Examine processes and plants for potential flammability hazards, under the guidance of a Senior Process Hazards Assessor, in order to define safe conditions of operation.
  • Participate in project teams as the representative of Process Hazards Section to provide advice to help ensure that new products and processes are developed and established safely to meet Supply Chain targets.
  • Provide high quality, practical process hazards advice to partners by applying a combination of theoretical and applied knowledge in the fields of gas, vapour & dust flammability.
  • Prepare and issue hazard assessment reports largely independently, with complex decisions supported and validated by a Senior Process Hazards Assessor.
  • Progress technology and development initiatives to explore alternative techniques of hazard identification and options to problem resolution.
  • Build relationships with key external contacts to maintain a high level of awareness and expertise in existing and developing fire & explosion technology.
  • Lead, develop, train and coach PHS experimentalists to improve their performance and achieve higher professional standards.
  • Contribute to collaborations with academia / professional bodies as appropriate.
  • Drive change and continually strive to improve working processes and systems.

Your profile

  • Honours degree or equivalent in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry or other physical science.
  • Understanding of chemical engineering principles and unit operations.
  • Experience of Process Risk Assessment (Risk Analysis / HAZOP).
  • Knowledge of relevant corporate documentation / external legislation relating to flammability risks.
  • Strong planning and organizational skills.
  • Fluent in English. A knowledge of German, both oral and written, is beneficial but not essential.
