Medichem Manufacturing (Malta) Ltd and Combino Pharm (Malta) Ltd form part of the Medichem group, a Spanish pharmaceutical organization which develops and manufactures both active pharmaceutical ingredients and finished dosage forms. Medichem specialises in the development, manufacture and marketing of generic active pharmaceutical ingredients for the global pharmaceutical industry, while Combino Pharm is regarded as a specialised manufacturer of high-end generic drugs with well-established markets in Europe and beyond. Due to an increased demand for our products we now have the following vacant positions within our organisation in Malta. Research And Development Chemist. This individual will form part of our Research and Development Department, a dynamic and diverse team of technical graduates, focused on the development and industrialisation (scale-up to industrially-viable volumes) of new chemical processes for manufacturing generic APIs. The candidate will be primarily responsible for performing synthetic experiments related to the development of industrially- viable, chemical processes, both in our conventional laboratory and state of the art High-Potency (HPAPI) facility. The person will also be expected to perform analysis and operate modern analytical instrumentation (mainly HPLC, UPLC and GC) in order to acquire analytical data for materials synthesised as part of the research programme and in support of industrialisation activities. You would also need to have: A degree in Chemistry, ideally with demonstrated strengths in organic chemistry and in the use of analytical chromatographic methods. Experience in performing HPLC analysis on pharmaceutical products would be considered as an asset. He/she will be capable of critical problem solving by applying chemical principles, theories and techniques to complex chemical scenarios. The ability to work as part of a team, together with the capacity for independent thinking and unsupervised work is essential.
