We have a number of exciting Organic Chemistry Scientist openings at a leading Pharmaceutical CMO in Oxfordshire. The role involves providing drug discovery and development solutions to the pharmaceutical, biotech and chemistry industries.
Key responsibilities and duties:
- Complete chemistry tasks assigned by the line manager to a high-quality standard within given time frames
- Define and carry out all key process development and preparative work
- Ensure all experimental work is accurately recorded, communicating results to the line manager and team members
- Provide guidance, supervision and training to colleagues within API development
- Follow all company safety regulations and ensure appropriate quality and safety is achieved
- Ensure all correct procedures are followed, work is to an appropriate standard, and make suggestions to help ensure they are maintained and developed (e.g. cGMP)
- Review necessary documentation for efficient transfer of processes to the pilot plant and cGMP preparation
- Liaise with the analytical and quality departments when necessary
- Gather technical information to assist in the preparation of laboratory production project costings and PRD proposals
- Ensure company documentation (e.g. SOP) is followed, up to date and complete
Ideal skills and qualifications:
- MChem/MSc/PhD in Organic Chemistry or a similar scientific discipline (or equivalent industrial experience)
- Previous industry experience in a similar role would be highly desirable
- Technically competent and familiar with the use of online literature research tools
- Practically competent in a laboratory environment (GMP or GLP)
- Experience in a variety of analytical and purification techniques (HPLC, LC-MS, NMR)
- Experience with GMP in API synthesis would be an advantage
- Strong decision-making skills and investigative approach to problem-solving
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
