Development of Fire formulations for polyolefins
Since its inception, Gaiker has worked to develop screenings fireproofing for the manufacture of products for extrusion and injection for the sectors of automotive, electrical-electronics and construction. As examples of possible final destinations of these materials are: fireproof panels for construction, coatings power cables cars, profiles and tubes fireproofing for the electricity sector.
Recent activities in this area have been focused on the development of compounds with parent olefins, nanoparticles minerals and expandable graphite, as burdens ignifugantes novel and halogen-free.

Hoy en día, nos enteramos de que varios miles de bebés en China estan gravemente enfermos, después de haber sufrido fracaso renal agudo, con varias víctimas mortales, entre las que figuran la fórmula de leche contaminada con el producto químico industrial melamina. El número de víctimas es mucho mayor que anteriormente fue admitido por las autoridades chinas, según la BBC.

Fabricante, Sanlu, de propiedad de parte de Nueva Zelandia Fonterra Cooperativa, recordó todos sus productos de leche en polvo en China del norte y el oeste de la provincia de Gansu. La melamina es un compuesto orgánico, una base con fórmula química C3H6N6. Oficialmente es 1,3,5-triazina-2 ,4,6-triamine en el sistema de nomenclatura IUPAC (CAS # 108-78-1). Se tiene una masa molecular de poco más de 126, constituye un blanco, polvo cristalino, y es sólo ligeramente soluble en el agua. Se utiliza en los retardantes de fuego en las resinas de polímero debido a su alto contenido en nitrógeno es puesto en libertad como la llama de gas nitrógeno a ahogar cuando el compuesto se quema o carbonizados.

Especially where thermoplastic elastomers no longer meet requirements, LSR provides the capability profi le to fi ll the need. An added advantage is in the fact that LSR will combine with a host of other plastics and with metals. Low viscosity creates high flexibility Liquid silicone rubbers belong to the group of heat-curing rubbers. A characteristic feature is their low viscosity during processing compared to solid silicones or elastomers.
Two-component mixtures increasingly crosslink by the addition process. This means that the reaction takes place without any decomposition product forming. This is a great benefit i
injection moulding because there is no concern of deposits forming on the moulds. In order to define processing time until crosslinking starts, one of the two components hasan inhibitor added, which is also referred to as a ‘pot-life regulator’. The other component has a catalyst added. Crosslinking – better known as curing – starts due to the infl uence of the mould temperature which, depending on the Vehicle and Medical Food machine building devices industry mix, is between 160 °C and 220 °C. But then the reaction proceeds fairly rapidly at approximately 5 s/mm of wall thickness. LSR moulding solutions in practice
APPLICATIONS
The processing of liquid silicone rubber involves vulcanisation or curing under heat. This implies three particularities of LSR injection moulding: metering of two different liquids by means of a special metering unit; homogenisation and delivery of the paste-like rubber in the injection moulding machine; and curing in the mould at around 160 °C to 220 °C. As a single-component material, LSR is used in many technical applications, such as keyboard mats, plug connectors, O-rings and gaskets. Recently, it has also found application for such common consumer products as dummies and dispensers in food packaging articles. Moreover,
LSR is used in medical devices, such as tubing, respirator masks, and body electrodes. The most dynamic growth areas today are fl exible baking moulds, self-ceramifying products, e. g. sheathing
of cables in fi re-hazard areas and lift wells – and technical parts made by twocomponent injection moulding for use in the automotive and electronic industries. Tips and tricks from LSR pros 1. In the case of thermoplastic/LSR combinations, continue processing the thermoplastic immediately – whether direct by transfer into a second injection moulding machine or by overmoulding in a two-component mould. This way you will be able to avoid changes in surface tension on the thermoplastic part by oxidation or water absorption. 2. “Try out and adjust“ new moulds for some time with standard LSR in order to “siliconise” the surface so that zero-loss demoulding of the parts is ensured in commercial production. 3. You can signifi cantly shorten the time for adhesion build-up between the thermoplastic and LSR by allowing a longer dwell time after injection moulding or by post-curing. This is the way to quickl achieve optimum fi nal bonding.

Davros mask Doctor Who Light test by piggywigs

This is one of the Davros masks i make. The footage here is the silicone light fitting being tested. Note that because this is a test,the mask is in the pre-paint stage, just undercoated.

The light was constructed using speaker wiring, a small battery box with an on/off switch and a super blue LED.
The visible part of the light was made in clay and then a mold was made from that. The mold was then filled with clear silicone which was intrinsically pre-dyed with an opaque deep blue pigment.
The LED was soldered to the wiring and battery unit, then the LED was pushed into the silicone before it was set to seal and hide the soldering work.
The light is removeable from the mask so that a non lit version can be fitted if preferred.
I will be offering a limited amount of these masks for sale soon with the light unit included.

En 2006, los fabricantes de masterbatch en Europa fabricado cerca de 1 millón de toneladas (aproximadamente 960000 toneladas) de masterbatches, mientras que la demanda del mercado fue de poco más de 800000 toneladas. Europa es, pues, un importante exportador neto de masterbatches.
En general, el mercado ha mostrado un buen crecimiento en los últimos años, con un promedio anual del 3% desde 2001. Este crecimiento ha sido impulsado por la creciente penetración de masterbatches en el segmento de ingeniería de polímeros en sustitución de los compuestos, y el uso creciente de los fabricantes de polímeros en sus propias operaciones de composición. El mayor uso de color y efectos especiales para diferenciar los productos también han ayudado a levantar la demanda, junto con la exigencia de mejorar los criterios de rendimiento de materiales poliméricos en términos de estabilización UV, llama retardancy y otras características. Casi todos los países europeos se han beneficiado de este crecimiento con la excepción del Reino Unido, que ha supuesto una disminución de mercado. El mercado británico se ha visto especialmente afectado por la disminución de la capacidad de moldeo y la transferencia de producción a Europa central y Asia. El Reino Unido ha disminuido de contabilidad para el 14% del mercado europeo en 1996 a 10% en 2006.
