We are currently working for a well-known fashion and cosmetics company with own brands as well as licenses and very focus on luxury brands for which we are searching for a Product Development Chemist focus on Make-up and based in Barcelona.
Reporting directly to the Manager of this category and in collaboration with the Research Center, Regulatory and Marketing and Packaging, the Product Development Chemist is responsible for all steps of formula development from ideation to final formulation of innovative cosmetic products.
Your main duties will be: Coordinate new make-up and cosmetic product development with external lab, determines stability of formulations and ensures commercial feasibility, assures that all testing to guarantee a marketable final product is on schedule, interact with internal team and external manufacturer during formulation and development process, create and maintain all the necessary formula related documentation, help develop raw material, bulk, final product specifications and manufacturing procedures, as well as stability studies and product performance protocols, follow laboratory SOPs, lead manufacturing transfer process from pilot lab batches to commercial production, develop and maintain relationships with key global third party manufacturers, maintain continuing awareness of scientific and technological advances relating to the development of cosmetic products, and proactively seek new concepts, materials, technologies, technical opportunities and partnerships for potential application in new products.
We are seeking for a professional with Bachelor's/Master's Degree in Science (Chemistry, Chemical Engineering...) and 3+ years' experience in developing new formulas for color cosmetics as a Project Manager. Previous experience working in Make-up is a must (knowledge in pigments, make-up ingredients, physical testing and analytical methods applied to make up product). Fluent English and Spanish is a must, French/Italian is a nice to have. Some availability to travel is expected.
