QC Technician required, based in South Yorkshire. Requiring a scientific mind-set with a good aptitude for mathematics and an eye for detail. Experience of QC or in manufacturing environments advantageous but not essential.

Location: South Yorkshire
Salary: £19,000 - £22,000 per annum (dependent on experience)
SRG is working with a well-established manufacturer of refractory materials for use in high temperature industrial applications. As part of the company's succession plan, they are now looking to hire a QC Technician to join the technical team at their site in South Yorkshire. The role will involve conducting testing on raw materials and finished products to ensure that physical properties and dimensions meet specifications. This position would be an excellent opportunity for someone with qualifications in a Maths or Science discipline and a good eye for detail to start their technical career in the chemical/materials industry.
Benefits: Permanent, varied role with full training provided and very good potential for career development into further technical roles or middle management over time. 40 working hours per week, worked 8am - 4.30pm, Monday to Friday. Requirement to cover shift work (6am-2pm/2pm-10pm) for holidays or sickness as necessary. Overtime available. 25 days holiday as standard plus 8 statutory days. Excellent pension scheme and private healthcare cover.
Role / Description
  • Conducting physical/mechanical testing and measurement of physical properties on raw materials and finished products against defined specifications
  • Testing includes; porosity, density, strength, dimensions, conductivity, resistance, ash analysis
  • Ensuring that samples meet agreed customer specifications and standards
  • Documenting results and reporting deviations and non-conformances as necessary, taking corrective action if required
  • Validating process checks carried out by operators to ensure parameters are correctly adhered to
  • Liaising with production to communicate non-conformances and reach resolutions on quality matters
Requirements
  • Educated to A Level (equivalent or higher) standard in Mathematics or Science discipline (Chemistry, Physics or similar)
  • Aptitude for Excel spreadsheets, formulae and mathematical calculations
  • Driving licence and own transport preferred
  • Experience in a laboratory, QC or industrial manufacturing environment will be beneficial but is not essential.
  • Integrity, honesty and ability to work methodically will be key to this role
