The EU is expected in Europe also has the swine flu deaths

The Center for Prevention and Disease Control in the EU (ECDC) provides that the swine flu also cause deaths in Europe, said today one of the experts of the agency, Angus Nicoll.
"We can expect death, but we do not know how," Nicoll said in a press conference broadcast from the headquarters in Stockholm.
Nicoll said that the EU expects "a similar development to which the virus is having on America", which means an increase in the number of cases, infections that occur secondary level (different from Mexican territory), and the death one of the hospitalized patients.
So far, the number of confirmed cases of swine flu in the EU amounts to 19, 10 of which have been recorded in Spain, including a person who had not traveled to Mexico, 5 in the United Kingdom, 3 in Germany and 1 in Austria.
Those responsible for the ECDC in Europe stressed that the close contact between patients and confirmed or suspected family is very controlled, very important to control the contagion of the second level.
Also, Nicoll noted that reducing the number of deaths in Mexico is a "positive signal" but that "before talking about the seriousness of the situation we have to see how the virus continues to evolve at the international level."
The expert explained that the dangerousness of this strain of flu is "solely because it is a new virus against which our immune system is not ready."
He added that the common flu has a mortality rate not trivial, "and that this proportion increases to one percent among patients older than 65 years.
On the possibility that the virus affects some population group, Nicoll said that most patients are young "because it is the biggest holiday travel to Mexico at this time."
To avoid possible contamination, the expert said it was valid "methods similar to those used for seasonal influenza, such as washing hands frequently, use of masks or avoid contact with the sick.
