WHO confirms 898 new cases of flu in 18 countries 4-5-9

Mexico and the USA remain the hardest hit.

The World Health Organization (WHO) on Sunday rose to 898 the number of confirmed cases of influenza A (H1N1) in eight countries.

The UN health organization said that the increase in confirmed cases in Mexico -506 cases with nineteen deaths so far is due to the inclusion of cases with analytical has been confirmed in the last 48 hours, but from samples taken previously.

The second most affected country is United States, with 226 laboratory-confirmed cases, including that of a Mexican boy who died two years in Texas because of the new flu.

In alphabetical order, the affected countries but that so far have died are Germany (8), Austria (1), Canada (85), China (Hong Kong) (1), South Korea (1), Costa Rica (1), Denmark (1), Spain (40), United States (15), France (2), Ireland (1), Israel (3), Italy (1), New Zealand (4), Netherlands ( 1), United Kingdom (15) and Switzerland (1). These figures are the latest taken by the authorities of each country, although there might be discrepancies due to lack of updating, such as Spain, where the Ministry of Health amounted to forty-four.

As a novelty, the WHO stated in its latest report that the Canadian authorities have reported the presence of virus in a herd in Alberta whose pigs were in contact with a farm worker who recently visited Mexico. Stresses in any case spread to pigs that did not change any of the infectious agent.

The agency said that there is no risk in consumption of pork thoroughly cooked pork or other derivatives.
